For great information about local sites, please see http://www.italianlakes.com, created and maintained by two Villa Isella residents.

There is an abundance of information on the web and at the library about Italy. A good place to start is the Italian Tourist Web Guide: http://www.itwg.com or http://travel-italy.com

Outdoor Activities

The location of Villa Isella in the pre-Alps between two beautiful lakes offers a plethora of tourism and outdoor activities. There are wonderful sightseeing opportunities in the villages, towns, and cities of Northern Italy and Switzerland. The area is quite easy to explore for the independent tourist, or you may prefer a guided tour (available in English and other languages), available from Como, Lugano, and other cities. For the more active explorer, the area offers incredible mountain hiking, horseback riding, bicycling (for the daring!), and all forms of water activities. In the winter, skiing opportunities are within a one to two hour drive (St. Moritz, for example).

Seasonal Events

In addition to outdoor touring and sports, various festivals of local culture, food, and wine frequently occur, and musical concerts and festivals are organized in Lugano, Como, and even in some of the smaller local towns and villages. The tourist offices in Lugano, Como, Bellagio, and Menaggio can supply you with specifics.
